Stanley Weishaar, OTEC Founding Board Member Announces Retirement

La Grande, OR – December 15, 2009 – Stanley Weishaar, Oregon Trail Electric Cooperative (OTEC) Director, announced his retirement from the Board of Directors, effective January 10, 2010.

Weishaar is one of OTEC’s founding board members and has served continuously on the board since 1988.  As a founding member, Weishaar was an integral part of establishing, growing and strengthening the cooperative from its inception.

In announcing his retirement, Weishaar said, “I’m very thankful to the members of Union County and OTEC who have reelected me over the years to represent them in this very important position.  It has been an honor to serve the OTEC members.  Of course, I could not have done so without the support of my family, so I want to thank them as well.”

Weishaar served as President of the OTEC Board for three years.  He also earned Board Certification from the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA).

“Working with Stanley on OTEC’s Board has been an enjoyable experience, and he will be missed by all Board members,” said David Baum, OTEC Board President.  “His leadership and understanding of the industry has been a benefit to everyone associated with OTEC.  The coop is well situated for the future because of Stanley’s commitment and efforts.”

In accordance with the by-laws, David Baum (President) has appointed a board subcommittee comprised of Grant Holman, Gary Potter, and Ralph Ward to recommend a replacement for Weishaar’s seat (Position 7).  The subcommittee will review potential nominees and make a recommendation to the OTEC Board.  If a member is interested in serving as the replacement they should contact a member of the subcommittee of the Board.

Position 7 is also up for election in 2010.  If members are interested in running for election to this position they should contact a member of the nominating committee.  This process and committee will be announced the week of January 11th.

Members are also encouraged to enjoy a special feature about Stanley Weishaar in the January 2010 issue of Ruralite Magazine.
