OTEC Nominating Committees Appointed
Baker City, OR – January 11, 2010 – The board of directors for Oregon Trail Electric Cooperative (OTEC) appointed the director nominating committees for Baker and Union County during its regular meeting on November 17.
Baker County:
Appointed to serve are Lavelle Woodcock, James Simmons, and Scott Martin. The committee is responsible for nominating candidates for board position number 9 currently held by Peggi Timm.
Union County:
Appointed to serve are Russell Graham, Al Peters, and Dave Driggers. The committee is responsible for nominating candidates for board position number 7 formerly held by Stanley Weishaar, and position number 8 currently held by Dave Baum.
OTEC members interested in the position or interested in having input in the nominating process should contact a member of the nominating committee.
Each director’s term of office is for three years. The election will be completed at the annual meeting, scheduled for May 15, 2010 in La Grande.
A copy of the bylaws describing the terms of the office and qualifications needed to serve on the nine-member board of directors is available at any OTEC office.
Committees must submit their nominations by February 12, 2010.
Nominations by petition must be filed no later than March 16, 2010. The petition must be signed by the candidate and at least 250 OTEC members qualified to vote. In addition, there must be a request that the candidates name be placed on the ballot.
As announced in a December 15, 2009, OTEC press release, the process for filling Position 7, formerly held by Stanley Weishaar, is also underway.
In accordance with the by-laws, David Baum (President) has appointed a board subcommittee comprised of Grant Holman, Gary Potter, and Ralph Ward to consider recommending a replacement for Weishaar’s seat (Position 7). The subcommittee will review potential nominees and make a recommendation to the OTEC Board. However, if a replacement is selected, that replacement will be up for election this May.
If a member is interested in serving as the interim replacement for Position 7 they should contact a member of the subcommittee of the Board by no later than January 25, 2010.
