Showerhead Program
OTEC currently does not offer low-flow showerheads to members - but encourages members whose water is heated with an
electric water heater to use them. Low-flow showerheads can reduce your home water consumption
and water heating costs by as much as 50%. A low-flow showerhead is designed to
deliver fewer gallons of water per minute but with the same pressure as a
traditional showerhead.
Commercial Lighting Retrofit Program
OTEC offers rebates to commercial businesses to change their existing lighting to the more energy efficient lighting. Rebates are based on the number of fixtures and the type of lamps used. We will also assist the consumer in obtaining an additional incentive called the Business Energy Tax Credit (BETC).
Heat Pump Program - Performance-Tested Comfort System (PTCS) Qualified
Rebates are available for residential consumers to obtain incentives by installing PTCS qualified heat pumps. The rebate is about $1,500 for an air-source heat pump. For geothermal systems (ground-source), the rebate is $3,000.
OTEC also offers rebates for non-PTCS heat pumps installed by a participating heating contractor. The rebate is $500 for air source systems and $1,000 for geothermal systems. Contact OTEC for a list of participating contractors.
Water Heater Program
OTEC offers a $100 credit to the electric bill of a consumer who installs an electric water heater (50 gallon) with a .93 efficiency rating.
ENERGY STAR® Appliance Program
OTEC offers a credit on your electric account for appliances that meet ENERGY STAR® Compliance. ENERGY STAR® qualified appliances are manufactured with advanced technologies that use 10 to 50 percent less energy than standard models. The rebates are as follows:
Clothes Washer

ENERGY STAR® Manufactured Home Program
OTEC offers a $1,150 rebate towards manufactured homes that are constructed to the National Energy Efficiency Manufactured (NEEM) home standards, also known as the ENERGY STAR® Manufactured Home Program. Manufactured homes installed after January 1, 2007 are entitled to receive this rebate.
Irrigation Sprinkler and Pump Motor Program
OTEC offers rebates to customers to install approved irrigation measures that save energy and water for hand line, wheel line or pivot irrigation watering systems. The amount of the rebate depends on the number of measures installed, the type of irrigation system and the size.
Rebates are offered for replacing a standard efficiency pump motor to a premium efficiency pump motor. Rebates range from $55 to $5,600, depending on the efficiency rating and the size of the motor.
Freeze Resistant Cattle Fountain Program
Rebates are offered for changing a conventional stock watering tank with electric heater to an electric-free stock watering tank. The rebate amount is $165 per fountain.
Low-Income Weatherization Program
The Low-Income Weatherization Program provides funding to local low-income weatherization service providers to operate a program that serves consumers who are on a limited income. The home must be located within OTEC's service territory and be electrically heated. Single or multi-family residences or manufactured homes are eligible.
Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Program
A $500 rebate is available to consumers for installing one kW (1,000 watts) of PV-generation per year.
